Patna: Patna police have arrested four people and dismantled what they described as a major drug trafficking network, seizing large quantities of narcotics during raids in the city.
Officers recovered 40kg of opium and three quintals of doda, a derivative of the opium poppy, along with about Rs 6 lakh in cash. The haul is estimated to be worth around Rs 2.5 crore on the international market.
Senior superintendent of police Kartikey Sharma said three of the accused were from Jharkhand, while the fourth was a resident of Nalanda in Bihar. He added that police were investigating the gang’s wider network, which is believed to span multiple states.
Authorities have also launched proceedings to identify and confiscate properties acquired through what they described as “black money” linked to the group’s illegal trade.
