Patna: The monsoon is expected to continue its erratic spell in Bihar on Sunday as the Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for rain and lightning in 25 districts, including Darbhanga and Madhubani. Winds are expected to gust at speeds of up to 40 km/h, while 13 other districts are set to endure more days of humid heat.
Heavy downpours were recorded in Katihar, Supaul and Buxar on Saturday, though in Patna only light morning clouds gave way to sunshine later in the day.
Flood-like conditions have re-emerged in many areas, with the Ganga flowing above the danger mark in Patna, Munger and Begusarai. In Munger, the river has risen about 71 cm above the warning level of 38.33 metres, leaving nearly 100 homes in Padora Tola at risk of erosion. Villagers reported that three houses have already been swallowed by the river.
In Begusarai, the rising water has disrupted road connectivity in Shamho block, cutting it off from Begusarai, Lakhisarai and Munger. In Buxar, floodwaters spilled onto the state highway, adding to the disruption.
