Patna: After a fortnight-long campaign across Bihar, the Mahagathbandhan’s Voter Adhikar Yatra will conclude on September 1 in Patna with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi leading a four-kilometre padyatra from Gandhi Maidan to the Ambedkar memorial near the High Court.
The closing ceremony has been titled Gandhi se Ambedkar, a symbolic gesture aimed at emphasising the Congress’s message of safeguarding the Constitution and taking “street politics to power.” The route will pass through SP Verma Road, Dakbunglow Chauraha, Kotwali Thana, Income Tax Golambar and Nehru Path before culminating at Ambedkar’s statue.

Initially, the grand alliance had planned a concluding rally in Gandhi Maidan, but the venue could not be allotted in time, prompting the change to a padyatra. Congress leaders said that despite other venues like the Veterinary College Ground and Miller High School Ground being available, the decision to march instead was a deliberate political signal.
The Yatra has traversed districts including Saran, Gaya, Darbhanga and Bhojpur, drawing large crowds and prominent opposition leaders such as Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav and Rohini Acharya. On its 14th day, the Yatra reached Ara before halting for a break over the weekend.
Rahul Gandhi returned to Delhi on Friday and is expected back in Patna on August 31, ahead of the final march on Monday.
