Muzaffarpur: The body of a 58-year-old assistant teacher, missing for two days in Muzaffarpur, was found near a railway track on Friday night. The deceased, identified as Asha Minj, a resident of Amgola Nitishwar Marg, had been under severe stress after being assigned Booth Level Officer (BLO) duties alongside her teaching role.
Police said the body was recovered between Miscort Lane and Padav Pokhar in the Mithanpura police station area. The family identified her on Saturday after a complaint had been lodged at Kazi Mohammadpur police station.
According to her brother, Minj had left home on Friday evening without informing anyone, leaving her bag and mobile phone behind. She was reported missing later that night. Police registered an unnatural death case after reports from locals suggested she had been hit by a train.
Her colleagues and the Teachers’ Association said she was burdened by additional election-related work, despite official directives that teachers should not be forced into duties outside of teaching. They demanded accountability and better protection for educators from such pressures.
