Patna: In the wake of a recent incident where derogatory comments were directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother during a political rally in Darbhanga Tejaswi Prasad Yadav leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, has questioned the Prime Minister’s delayed response.
While Modi condemned the abuse as an affront to all women, Tejaswi highlighted that similar remarks had previously been made against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and himself. Tejaswi stated that BJP leaders had abused him over his mother and sister inside the assembly, yet Modi had remained silent at the time.
“A mother is a mother. The word mother gives great comfort; even the mute have a mother,” Tejaswi said. He emphasized that such personal attacks are unacceptable and criticized the Prime Minister for his apparent indifference during earlier incidents, suggesting that Modi’s recent emotional response might be politically motivated.
Tejaswi also cited instances where women were insulted by BJP leaders on camera and the lack of action against those leaders, questioning PM Modi’s consistency in condemning abuse.
The controversy has intensified political tensions in Bihar ahead of the state elections, with both the BJP and opposition parties leveraging the issue to rally support. The BJP has organized protests condemning the abuse, while the opposition questions the consistency and sincerity of PM Modi’s reactions to such matters.
