Patna: Jan Suraj Party leader Prashant Kishor has indicated that he could contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections from either Raghopur, the stronghold of Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, or from Kargahar, his birthplace in Sasaram.
Speaking at a program in Patna, Prashant said that candidates should ideally contest elections from either their birthplace or their karmabhoomi. “According to birthplace, I should contest from Kargahar, and in terms of karmabhoomi, it should be Raghopur,” he said.
Prashant also added that if Chief Minister Nitish Kumar decided to contest, he would contest from the same seat, describing CM Nitish Kumar as a “backdoor leader” who has avoided direct elections for the past 20 years.
While Prashant has been instrumental in shaping the Jan Suraaj Party’s electoral strategy, he emphasised that the decision on his candidacy ultimately rests with the party. His comments have added a layer of uncertainty for Tejashwi Yadav, as a potential contest in Raghopur could create a high-profile political face-off.
