Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary Announces Master Plan for Development of 100 Bihar Cities, Announces in Assembly
Patna: Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has unveiled an ambitious urban development initiative aimed at transforming 100 cities across Bihar, as he announced plans to draft comprehensive master plans to guide their growth and organization.
Addressing the Bihar Assembly on Wednesday following the presentation of the Bihar Appropriation Bill (No. 2), Chaudhary, who also serves as the Minister for Urban Development and Housing, outlined the government’s vision to revitalize urban landscapes and infrastructure.
The House greenlit an expenditure of Rs 2,82,992 crore and 32 lakh 78 through the Appropriation Bill, earmarked for various developmental endeavors.
Chaudhary underscored the significance of the master plan, emphasizing its role in providing a holistic framework for the integrated development of the designated cities. These plans will inform development strategies tailored to the unique needs and characteristics of each locality, with the scheme poised for expansion to additional cities in a systematic fashion.
“In the past, urban development lacked the necessary impetus, with outdated plans dating back to the 1960s. However, under the stewardship of the NDA government, focused efforts have been directed towards the comprehensive development of urban centers, particularly in Patna,” Chaudhary remarked, highlighting the government’s renewed commitment to urban revitalization.
The master plan, he elaborated, will encompass a wide array of components, encompassing industrial zones, drainage infrastructure, green spaces, and provisions for public amenities such as parks, reflecting a holistic approach towards sustainable urbanization.
Moreover, Chaudhary outlined plans to establish Samrat Ashoka Convention Centers across all municipal bodies, envisaging these centers as focal points for community engagement and cultural enrichment, akin to Town Halls in districts across the state.
“The government remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing the quality of life in urban areas, with ongoing initiatives aimed at providing essential civic amenities to residents,” Chaudhary affirmed, underscoring the government’s dedication to fostering inclusive and vibrant urban environments.
