Mumbai: Apple’s annual showcase is back, and this year it promises to be bigger than ever. The company is set to unveil its iPhone 17 series — including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and a new iPhone 17 Air — at its event branded “Awe Dropping.”
Traditionally, Apple reduces the price of older models when new flagships arrive, and 2025 is no exception. Even before the iPhone 17 hits the shelves, the iPhone 16 has been marked down on Amazon and Flipkart, offering buyers an early opportunity to upgrade at reduced prices.
On Amazon, the base variant of the iPhone 16 — with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage — has dropped from its launch price of Rs 79,900 to Rs 69,999, a flat Rs 10,000 reduction. With bank discounts, exchange offers and no-cost EMI options, the effective price could fall as low as Rs 60,000.
On Flipkart, the same variant is listed at Rs 74,900, roughly a 5% price cut. Additional offers sweeten the deal, including cashback on Flipkart Axis Bank and SBI cards, up to Rs 750 off with Axis Bank debit cards, and 8–10% cashback worth up to Rs 1,600 on HDFC cards.
The dual move — introducing the latest premium lineup while making last year’s devices more affordable — reflects Apple’s strategy of widening its consumer base in India, one of its fastest-growing markets. With the new iPhones poised to enter the ultra-premium segment, discounts on the iPhone 16 are likely to attract aspirational buyers who want Apple devices without the steep entry price of its latest models.
As anticipation builds for the “Awe Dropping” event, Apple enthusiasts and bargain hunters alike have reason to watch closely.
