Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for rainfall across 27 districts of Bihar today, warning of heavy showers accompanied by lightning and wind speeds up to 40 km/h.
According to IMD officials, no district recorded rainfall in the past 24 hours. However, overcast skies prevailed in Patna throughout Friday, offering no respite from the humid weather.
Heavy Rain Forecast from Sunday
The weather department has predicted widespread heavy rainfall across Bihar on Sunday, with wet conditions likely to continue till September 18. The fresh spell is expected to bring down temperatures, offering relief from the prevailing heat.
Temperature to Drop During Rain
The Patna Meteorological Centre said maximum temperatures in the state are expected to remain between 32–36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will range from 24–28 degrees Celsius over the next six days. This dip in temperature may ease humidity levels for residents.
Reason Behind Weather Change
Meteorologists attributed the change to a low-pressure system that has developed over North Bihar and adjoining regions. Additionally, moist winds from the Bay of Bengal are feeding into the system, triggering conditions favourable for heavy rainfall across multiple districts.
Weather Outlook for Patna
In the state capital, the sky is expected to remain cloudy from Saturday onwards, with chances of light rain. The IMD has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days. Patna’s maximum temperature is likely to hover between 33–35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could remain between 25–27 degrees Celsius.
