Purnia: Good news has come for the people of Ranchi, Purnia and the nearby districts. Indigo Airlines is starting a new flight service connecting Ranchi to Purnia via Kolkata. The flights will begin from September 17 and will run three days a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday – on a trial basis.
This service is expected to be a big relief for passengers who until now had only one direct train, the Ranchi–Purnia Court Express, to travel between the two places. Bus services are also available, but the route is very long and tiring. The new flight will save passengers several hours of travel time and make the journey much more comfortable.
As per Indigo’s schedule, the flight will leave Ranchi at 7.40 am for Kolkata and then continue to Purnia, reaching there at 1.40 pm. On the same day, the flight will return from Purnia at 2.30 pm, go to Kolkata and then reach Ranchi by 8.45 pm. This means passengers will be able to make a same-day round trip if needed, which will help business travellers and those with urgent work.
Local residents have welcomed the decision and said that this step will improve connectivity and make it easier for people to travel for work, education and medical needs. If this trial service gets a good response, Indigo may increase the frequency of flights in the future, giving passengers even more options.
