Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party president Jagat Prakash (JP) Nadda is in Bihar today to hold a core committee meeting in Patna and later travel to Saran for the foundation stone ceremony of a hospital, just two days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.
BJP national president JP Nadda arrived in Patna on Saturday morning as part of the party’s preparations for the Bihar assembly elections later this year. He attended a programme organised by the BJP’s social media cell at Ravindra Bhawan before joining a closed-door meeting with the party’s core committee.
Party insiders said the discussions focused on the formation of election committees, campaign strategy, and possible candidates for the polls. Senior state leaders joined JP Nadda in the meeting, which underlined the BJP’s increasing activity in Bihar as the election season approaches.
In the afternoon, JP Nadda travelled to Mastichak in Saran district where he performed the Bhoomi Pujan and Kalash Sthapana ceremony for a 100-bed community hospital at the new campus of the Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital. The facility is being developed as a Centre of Excellence for eye care in the region.
JP Nadda’s visit comes just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled programme in Purnia on September 15, when he will inaugurate the city’s new airport, flag off a Vande Bharat train service, and launch several infrastructure projects. Union home minister Amit Shah is also expected to visit Patna twice this month, underlining the central leadership’s focus on Bihar.
