Patna: Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan has underlined his demand for a “respectable” share of seats in the NDA’s Bihar election pact, saying his party will not compromise on dignity during negotiations.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Chirag said: “I believe discussions regarding seat-sharing will begin now. Navratri begins today, so I believe talks will take place during these auspicious days, and everything will be fine. Our position will remain respectable. Whoever stays in which alliance must compromise with respect.”
The remarks, made as seat-sharing talks intensify within the NDA, highlight Chirag’s growing influence as a key ally in Bihar. His party is expected to play a pivotal role in the upcoming assembly elections, where both the ruling NDA and the opposition Grand Alliance are locked in fierce strategising.
Chirag also took aim at the Congress and RJD over their indecision on seat allocations, arguing that both lacked the courage to fight elections independently. “Despite being such old parties, they cannot contest without alliances. I, at least, showed the courage to fight alone in 2020,” he said.
With Chirag Paswan emphasising dignity in negotiations, the NDA faces the challenge of balancing demands among its partners while presenting a united front ahead of the polls.
