Patna: With the Diwali and Chhath festivals approaching, the Railways has announced relief measures for passengers by running eight pairs of Puja special trains and extending the operation of two pairs already in service. The decision aims to tackle the heavy rush of travellers moving between Bihar and major cities across India.
According to East Central Railway, the special trains will operate on routes connecting Rajgir–Anand Vihar, Gaya–Delhi, Dhanbad–Delhi, Lokmanya Tilak–Muzaffarpur, CSMT–Asansol, Rajkot–Barauni, Sabarmati–Patna, and Itwari–Jaynagar. Services will run on selected days between October and November, covering key junctions including Patna, Hajipur, Pataliputra, Barauni, Gaya, Dhanbad, and Samastipur.
The operation of trains between Gaya–Anand Vihar and Muzaffarpur–Anand Vihar has been extended by one month. Services from Gaya will continue every Sunday from October 12 to November 30, while those from Muzaffarpur will run every Saturday and Wednesday from October 11 to November 29.
Railway officials said the trains are equipped with necessary amenities and comfortable seating arrangements to provide a smooth journey. A large number of passengers return to Bihar during the festive season, often struggling to secure tickets, making these additional services crucial in easing the seasonal rush.
