Nawada/Patna: A gruesome murder in Bihar’s Nawada district has sparked outrage after the throat-slit body of 22-year-old Ankush Kumar was discovered inside a residence at the Viada campus on Saturday.
Ankush, the grandson of prominent local doctor Arundhati and nephew of an Indian Foreign Service officer, was reportedly attacked with a grinder blade used at an adjoining construction site. His body, drenched in blood, was found after relatives and clinic staff, unable to reach him on the phone for several hours, broke open the door.
The crime scene, located next to the police line, has raised questions over security. Nawada SP Abhinav Dhiman, Sadar SDPO Hulas Kumar, and senior officials rushed to the spot, with forensic experts collecting blood samples, blade marks, and other evidence. Police are examining mobile phone records, call details, and CCTV footage from the area.
“This is a very serious case. A thorough investigation is underway on all aspects. The killers will be identified soon,” said SP Dhiman.
Police sources indicated personal enmity could be a motive, though no suspects have been confirmed. Workers at the construction site are under interrogation.
The victim, son of Ravi Shankar Singh of Koshla village, was described by friends as a promising young man. His death has left his family inconsolable. “Ankush had no enemies. We just want justice,” relatives pleaded.
The body was sent to Sadar Hospital for postmortem, which confirmed death by strangulation. With the case involving the family of a senior doctor and an IFS officer, officials acknowledged the pressure to deliver swift results.
