Patna: The Election Commission of India has published the final voter list for Bihar, setting the stage for the announcement of the assembly elections. The roll was made public on Tuesday following a special intensive revision, with officials confirming that the poll schedule could be unveiled as early as next week.
The updated roll includes new voters added during the revision process, but also the deletion of 6.5 million names across 38 districts. Officials said the names removed were largely those of deceased voters, duplicate entries, or individuals who had shifted residence. Citizens had been given a window to file claims with supporting documents before the list was finalised.
The Commission has urged voters to verify their details through its portal at https://voters.eci.gov.in, using their state and EPIC number.

With the finalisation of the roll, preparations for elections are now at an advanced stage. A team from the Commission is expected to visit Bihar on October 4 and 5 to review arrangements. The state’s 243-member assembly term ends on November 22.
The release of the voter list is widely seen as the last major step before the announcement of the election schedule. Officials said the notification could come any time after the Commission’s visit next week.
