Patna: Patna is gearing up for one of its biggest Dussehra celebrations, with the grand Ravana Dahan ceremony at Gandhi Maidan expected to draw thousands of people. To ensure safety and smooth movement, the Patna Police and district administration have announced strict traffic rules and diversions starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday and continuing until the event concludes.
Several roads around Gandhi Maidan will be completely closed to regular vehicles. Only VIPs and pass-holding vehicles will be allowed entry at certain points. The authorities have warned that roads leading from Bhattacharya Square, Dakbungalow Square, and JP Golambar will be restricted. Emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines will be allowed on specific routes, including the stretch from JP Golambar to Children’s Park.
Parking will also be tightly controlled. Roads from JP Golambar to Dakbungalow Square, Dakbungalow Square to Patna Junction, and Ramgulam Chowk to Exhibition Road will have no parking. Additionally, vehicles will not be allowed to stop from Children’s Park to Police Line Trisection. For those with passes, special parking has been arranged at AN Sinha Institute, Gyan Bhawan, SBI campus, JP Ganga Path, Mauryalok campus, Veerchand Patel Path, and Harding Road.
To maintain order, traffic police, home guards, and flying squads will be deployed at key points. Barricades and checking points have been installed, and CCTV cameras will monitor the crowd throughout the day. The administration has appealed to citizens to avoid using vehicles near Gandhi Maidan unless absolutely necessary and to follow the traffic diversions and parking rules carefully.
The district administration hopes that these measures will make the Dussehra celebrations safe and enjoyable for everyone while keeping the city’s roads accessible for emergency services. Citizens’ cooperation will be crucial to managing the large crowd and preventing congestion during the festivities.
