Patna: Bihar Government has transferred several IAS officers in a significant reshuffle, days before the expected announcement of state assembly elections.
The General Administration Department issued a notification on Sunday confirming the transfers of four officers. Anil Chaudhary, a 2011-batch IAS officer, has been moved from his post as Municipal Commissioner of Madhubani Municipal Corporation to become Special Secretary in the state’s Home Department in Patna.
Upendra Prasad, a 2013-batch officer, will shift from Settlement Officer in Jehanabad to Additional Secretary in the General Administration Department in Patna. Sanjay Kumar, from the 2014 batch, will remain Additional Secretary in the same department but has been given additional responsibility as Chief General Manager of the Bihar Development Mission under the Cabinet Secretariat Department.
Sarthak Gupta, a 2019-batch IAS officer, has been transferred from his role as Deputy Development Commissioner and CEO of the Kishanganj District Council to Managing Director of the Bihar State Seeds Corporation Limited in Patna.
Officials said the reshuffle is aimed at boosting administrative efficiency across departments, though the timing — on the eve of the polls — is likely to attract political scrutiny.
