Bhojpuri Singer Neha Rathore Appeals to PM Modi’s For Intervention Amidst Harassment
PATNA – Bhojpuri singer Neha Rathore has appealed to Prime Minister Modi for protection from her own family, alleging relentless harassment and public humiliation on social media, expressing her distress over a viral photo juxtaposing her image with that of adult film star Mia Khalifa, which she claims BJP’s IT cell and local BJP leaders have been trending.
“I am being harassed. Doesn’t this show anyone’s wisdom? Will I have to fight alone to save myself from Modi ji’s so-called family? Will daughters be protected in this way??” she posted on social media.
Neha Rathore has been outspoken on social media, challenging BJP MP Manoj Tiwari’s Bhojpuri songs and consistently highlighting issues of inflation and unemployment. Nevertheless, her advocacy appears to have attracted unwanted attention, resulting in the dissemination of a demeaning post that compared her face with that of the adult stars.
Expressing her dismay, she stated, “I feel sad to be compared to adult film star Mia Khalifa,” while reminding PM Modi of his own campaign slogan, ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (Save Daughters, Educate Daughters).
The controversial post, initially shared by a handle identified as “Satyar Ojha Sir,” (@OjhaSir_)” on Monday, (March 25, 2024) quickly gained traction on social media platform X, prompting widespread condemnation, and was later reposted by another handle, (@KoshalRajNagar1), which allegedly belonged to a BJP Youth Wing member.
The posts were eventually deleted amid mounting criticism and calls for accountability. Neha reiterated her commitment to holding authorities accountable and demanded justice for the harassment she endured in a series of posts. She highlighted the urgent need to safeguard the dignity and rights of women, urging action against those responsible for perpetuating such demeaning behaviour.
Neha’s plea has resonated with many on social media, sparking a wave of solidarity and calls for legal repercussions against the perpetrators. With hashtags such as #Anti-Women BJP and #BetiBachaoBetiPadhao gaining momentum, the incident has ignited a broader conversation about gender-based discrimination and the need for greater protection of women’s rights.
