Patna: As Bihar gears up for its upcoming elections, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sought to quell speculation of discord within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), ahead of the first phase of voting. Nominations are set to begin tomorrow, but seat-sharing among the five NDA parties has yet to be formally announced.
Speaking to reporters, BJP state president Dr. Dilip Jaiswal said the alliance remains united and that a final decision on seat allocation and candidate names will be made within the next 48 to 72 hours. “The central leadership of all parties is in discussion, and the seat-sharing is being finalised. Once this is done, the names will be declared,” he added.
Dr. Jaiswal also asserted that the NDA is fully prepared for the elections, with candidate nominations, campaigning schedules, and venue plans already in place. He highlighted that decisions regarding which chief minister will campaign in which region have also been settled.
Turning his attention to the opposition, Jaiswal launched a pointed critique of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), saying Bihar had moved beyond the “lantern era” to the “electricity era” under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He cited infrastructural improvements across the state, noting that journeys that once required flights can now be completed in just a few hours by road.
