Patna: The political temperature in Bihar escalated on Thursday after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav announced plans to provide a government job to one member of every family if his party comes to power. The announcement drew sharp criticism from allies of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi ridiculing the proposal on social media.

Manjhi, invoking his signature style of satire, suggested that the announcement reflected the Lalu family’s “desperation for power.” He tweeted that, Tejashwi might claim that each family would be allotted a four-kattha farmhouse on the Moon and Mars if the RJD formed the government.
Adding a proverb for emphasis, Manjhi wrote, “No matter how hard a donkey tries, it can’t grow horns on its head,” implying that promises alone cannot change reality.
The remarks come amid heightened political posturing in Bihar, where opposition and ruling parties are positioning themselves ahead of the 2025 assembly elections.
