Patna/New Delhi: The seat-sharing discussions within the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) reached a critical juncture today as key leaders headed to Delhi, with VIP Supremo Mukesh Sahani injecting a sharp dose of political commentary by stating the alliance had become “a little ill.”
Sahani, whose own party’s allocation remains a point of contention, delivered his assessment to reporters before departing for the capital. “The Grand Alliance has become a little ill. All the doctors are in Delhi,” he said, using a striking metaphor to highlight the tensions. He concluded optimistically, “Going to Delhi will provide the right treatment from the right doctor,” signaling hope that the top leadership can resolve the impasse.
High-Level Huddle in Delhi
The VIP chief’s arrival coincides with the presence of RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad and his son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav in Delhi. Reports indicate the RJD leadership is scheduled to meet with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi, aiming to reach a definitive consensus on the seat division. A seat-sharing announcement is expected to follow this meeting.
The gravity of the talks was underscored by photos capturing a serious discussion between Tejashwi Yadav and Congress leader Akhilesh Singh while flying from Patna to Delhi.
When initially questioned about the Delhi visit, Tejashwi Yadav attempted to deflect, stating, “The court has summoned us, so we have come,” while avoiding direct questions regarding the seat-sharing negotiations. Lalu Yadav offered an equally brief comment earlier, simply stating that “Talks are ongoing.”
Parallel Political Movements
The Mahagathbandhan’s internal drama is playing out against the backdrop of activity on the opposite side of the political spectrum. Meanwhile, Pashupati Kumar Paras held a meeting with his senior party leaders, including Suraj Bhan Singh. Following the huddle, Paras announced that he would disclose his party’s election strategy and platform tomorrow, October 14.
