Patna: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Wednesday filed his nomination papers from Lakhisarai constituency for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, marking his sixth consecutive contest from the seat. The event turned into a display of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s organisational strength, with senior leaders in attendance.
Sinha was accompanied by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, fellow Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and Union Minister Giriraj Singh, among others. The leaders’ joint presence underscored BJP’s internal solidarity and its bid to retain influence in central Bihar ahead of a high-stakes election.
Sixth Nomination, Two Decades Of Electoral Success
Addressing supporters after filing his nomination, Sinha expressed gratitude for the “love, trust and blessings” of Lakhisarai’s voters over the past two decades. “Your support has given me the strength to serve continuously. I am committed to ensuring Lakhisarai’s growth and public welfare,” he said in a post on social media platform X.
Sinha first contested from Lakhisarai in February 2005, defeating RJD’s Phulena Singh by 1,448 votes, though he lost the subsequent re-election in November that same year. He made a strong comeback in 2010, defeating Phulena Singh by more than 59,000 votes, and has since maintained a winning streak. In 2015, he defeated JD(U)’s Ramanand Mandal, and in 2020, he beat Congress candidate Amresh Kumar.
BJP’s Confidence On Display
The nomination event drew large crowds as BJP cadres turned out in full force. Senior leaders hailed Sinha’s consistent performance as a sign of public trust and stability in the region. The party hopes to convert that goodwill into yet another victory, solidifying its base in Lakhisarai—a constituency that has grown into a symbolic BJP bastion in Bihar’s political landscape.
