Patna: The political temperature in Bihar has surged as parties gear up for the 2025 Assembly elections. The Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) on Thursday officially declared RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate, solidifying its campaign narrative ahead of the polls.
At a joint press conference in Patna, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot confirmed the decision, also announcing that two deputy chief ministers, including Vikassheel Insaan Party’s Mukesh Sahani, would be part of the alliance’s leadership plan.
Meanwhile, BJP’s national president JP Nadda is scheduled to address two rallies today — one in Goh (Aurangabad) and another in Patepur (Vaishali) — as part of the party’s electoral push.
However, BJP’s silence on Nitish Kumar’s role as the chief ministerial face has become a key topic of discussion. Taking a swipe at the BJP, Tejashwi Yadav asked, “Why is the BJP not announcing Nitish Kumar as its CM face? Are they unsure of their own alliance?”
Political analysts believe the Mahagathbandhan’s move gives it a head start in shaping the electoral narrative, while the BJP and JD(U) continue to navigate leadership questions amid reports of internal friction.
