Siwan: The Grand Alliance parties formally announced on Thursday that Tejashwi Prasad Yadav will be their chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar elections, with Mukesh Sahni named as the deputy CM face. Officials indicated that additional deputy chief ministers could be appointed in the future.
Responding to the announcement, Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor voiced sharp criticism. Speaking to reporters in Siwan, he said: “When power starts slipping away, people are ready to say anything. What will happen if you appoint not one but five Deputy CMs? This is not a new announcement… it is already known that if Laluji’s Jungle Raj returns, his son Tejashwi Yadav will become the Chief Minister. What is new in this?”
Tejashwi Yadav has promised permanent employment for contract workers and a monthly salary of Rs 30,000 for Jeevika Didi beneficiaries. Kishor dismissed these promises as electoral rhetoric, suggesting that Tejashwi may soon claim he will turn Bihar into a “golden kingdom.”
He further criticised the RJD for its record in government, stating: “The people of Bihar have not forgotten the plight of Bihar when your parents were in power for 18 years. Today, millions of children from Bihar are working abroad, and these people are claiming that they will provide jobs for everyone in Bihar. The people of Bihar will not fall into this mistake.”
Kishor added that past voting patterns were driven by fear, with citizens choosing the BJP to avoid Lalu Prasad and Lalu Prasad to avoid the BJP. “This time, the public has a strong and honest alternative — an alternative to public governance. The public will not make this mistake,” he said.
