Patna: In a touching tribute to one of Bihar’s most revered festivals, India Post has unveiled a special initiative allowing devotees to personalise postage stamps for Chhath Puja. The “My Stamp” programme enables individuals to feature their own photograph against a backdrop of the Chhath Ghat, offerings, and the Sun God, transforming a simple stamp into a deeply personal keepsake.
Priced at just Rs 300, the stamp is designed to serve as an emotional gift for mothers, wives, and sisters who observe the rigorous Chhath fast for the wellbeing and prosperity of their families. “Chhath Puja is not merely a festival,” said Ranjay Kumar Singh, Chief Postmaster at Patna GPO. “It is a confluence of devotion, sacrifice, and family joy. This initiative allows devotees to give their loved ones a unique and memorable token of respect and affection.”
The scheme, which operates under India Post’s broader “My Stamp” initiative, allows anyone to commemorate special occasions with a personalised stamp, making birthdays, weddings, or festivals unforgettable. Applicants can avail the service at Patna GPO or contact the office via 0612-2236937 or philatelypatnagpo@gmail.com.
In addition to office applications, the Patna GPO plans to set up a stall at one of the Chhath Ghats on October 27, providing devotees an opportunity to create and collect their personalised stamps on the spot.
Singh described the stamps as more than just collectibles, calling them “a symbol of faith, devotion, and familial bonds, capturing emotions that last a lifetime.”
