New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday released the official datesheet for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations. Both exams will commence on February 17, marking the start of one of India’s largest academic assessments, with nearly 4.2 million students expected to appear this year.
For Class 10, the first paper will be Mathematics, while Class 12 students will begin with Biotechnology and Shorthand. The board confirmed that exams will be conducted across all centres under strict supervision.

In a major reform, the CBSE announced that Class 10 board exams will now be held twice a year, offering students an opportunity to improve their performance. The second exam session is expected to take place between May 15 and June 1, marking the rollout of the new biannual exam format.
According to the revised structure, students will be allowed to reappear in up to three subjects — Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages — to enhance their scores. Students from winter-bound schools can choose to sit for either session. However, the board clarified that students who miss three or more subjects in the first exam will not be eligible for the second attempt.
The move, CBSE said, aims to reduce exam stress and offer greater academic flexibility to students nationwide.
