Patna: Bihar’s Economic and Cyber Crime Division (EOU) has arrested three individuals linked to a cyber fraud operation involving illegal SIM boxes and fake SIM cards in Darbhanga.
The operation, launched on October 30 following intelligence from a central agency, was coordinated under the guidance of the Additional Director General of Police, Economic Offences Unit. A special raiding team, led by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Cyber), carried out the raids with support from the Darbhanga Cyber Police Station.
On October 31, the team conducted coordinated searches across multiple locations in Darbhanga, including Ashapur, Madarpur, Lakshmi Sagar, J.P. Nagar, and Donar Lane. The raids resulted in the arrest of gang leader Roshan Jha of Balha, Antaur, along with two associates: Bittu Kumar Jha of Havi Bhanwar, Darbhanga, and Bobby Kalyan of Ketal, Kurukshetra, Haryana.
Police recovered substantial evidence from the suspects, including eight routers, more than 150 SIM cards, three inverter sets, three cameras, five mobile phones, and Rs 4 lakh in cash. An FIR has been registered at the Cyber Police Station, Darbhanga, and investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network.
