Supaul: At his final rally of the first phase of the Bihar election campaign in Supaul, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar highlighted the state government’s solar energy initiative, urging residents to install rooftop panels. “You don’t have to pay any money for solar panels. Everything is free,” he said, calling on voters to embrace renewable energy.
Nitish was joined on stage by Energy Minister and JDU candidate Bijendra Prasad Yadav, whom he personally garlanded and brought to the microphone, asking the crowd to ensure his victory.
Comparing Bihar’s past and present, the Chief Minister said, “Before 2005, people wouldn’t leave their homes after dusk. Now, boys and girls move freely. Earlier, there was no education, no medical care, no electricity. Our government worked for all.”
Nitish accused previous governments of stoking communal divisions. “They used to incite Hindu-Muslim conflict. We fenced both temples and graveyards to prevent disputes,” he said.
Highlighting his administration’s work for women, Nitish cited 50% reservation in panchayats, 35% in police and government jobs, and the success of the Jeevika women’s self-help groups. “Bihar now has the highest number of women police officers in India,” he claimed.
On employment, he said, “We have created 10 lakh jobs and are working towards providing 1 crore opportunities over the next five years.”
Nitish will address another public rally in Begusarai later in the day as the first phase of the election campaign draws to a close.
