Sonepur: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Frontier Headquarters, Patna, has taken an important step toward public service by launching a human and veterinary camp at the Sonepur Fair. The fair, one of Bihar’s oldest and largest, began on November 9, 2025. From the very first day, the SSB began a month-long initiative to provide medical help, animal care, and disaster management support to people visiting the fair. The Force has also deployed a relief and rescue team as part of its public awareness and welfare efforts.
This special programme has been organised under the leadership of Inspector General Nishit Kumar Ujjwal (IPS). Officers, soldiers, and doctors of the SSB are actively taking part in this initiative. The main aim is to help local people and livestock owners by offering free services and useful information about health, animal welfare, and disaster safety. The Force wants to build stronger connections with the people living near the border areas and show that its work is not limited to border protection alone.
In the human medical camp, a team of experienced doctors is providing free checkups, including blood pressure and diabetes tests. They are also distributing necessary medicines and giving advice on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. These services are proving helpful for villagers who often lack access to proper medical facilities. People visiting the camp are appreciating the care and attention given by the SSB doctors and staff.
The veterinary camp has also drawn the attention of livestock owners. The SSB veterinary team is offering animal health checkups, vaccinations, parasite control, and nutritional advice for cattle and other animals. Free medicines are being distributed to farmers, helping them keep their animals healthy and productive. Villagers have expressed their gratitude to the SSB for thinking about both people and animals through this effort.
Along with these camps, the SSB has deployed relief and rescue teams equipped with modern tools for disaster response. Their presence ensures quick action in case of any emergency during the fair. The Force’s efforts at the Sonepur Fair highlight its dedication to the welfare and safety of society. By taking part in such community programmes, the SSB shows that its mission is not only to guard India’s borders but also to serve the people with care, compassion, and responsibility.
