Patna: The Alumni Association of Patna Women’s College held its General Body Meeting this week, drawing around 100 alumni from various batches who returned to the campus to review the year’s achievements and plan ahead.
Dr Ameeta Jaiswal, President of the Alumni Association, welcomed participants and opened the session with a detailed outline of the 2025 milestones and the association’s priorities for 2026.
Presentations, Vision Statement and Plans for Alumni Meet 2025
The meeting began with a presentation by Ms Sushmita Chakraborty, Co-ordinator, PGDCA, followed by an address from Dr Jaiswal, who expanded on the association’s vision and mission. She also encouraged members to take an active role in the Alumni Meet scheduled for 21 December 2025.
A special segment celebrated the Golden Jubilee of the Class of 1975, featuring a presentation of photographs and memories that highlighted the deep bonds shared by the batch.
Senior Academics Share Memories and Recommendations
Among the distinguished alumni present was Dr Asha Singh, Former Principal of Magadh Mahila College, who reflected on her student years with nostalgia and pride. She praised the institution’s evolution and the growing contributions of its alumni.
Dr Maya Shankar, Former Head of the Department of History and Retired Professor, Patna University, proposed several recommendations for the upcoming alumni meet. These included accommodation for outstation alumni, streamlined dinner arrangements, and efforts to encourage life memberships, especially among in-house alumni.
Alumna Styla Pd from the Political Science batch of 1980–82 also shared her experiences, reinforcing the spirit of camaraderie that marked the gathering.
Newsletter, Theme Reveal and Cultural Plans for 2025 Meet
The meeting featured updates from the college’s faculty:

Ms Roma, Head of the Department of Mass Communication, highlighted the alumni newsletter Melak, urging members to contribute articles and personal reflections.

Ms Simran, Assistant Professor of Political Science, introduced the 2025 Alumni Meet theme — “Retro to Metro” — detailing plans for group songs, retro-inspired performances, and cultural presentations including folk, qawwali and other dance forms by the Students’ Council.

Ms Pratibha, Assistant Professor in the Department of History, invited alumni to join the cultural lineup with performances of their own.
Commitment to Strengthening the Alumni Network
The meeting concluded with alumni sharing suggestions and reaffirming their commitment to nurturing a stronger, more engaged alumni community. Members expressed enthusiasm for December’s reunion and for expanding collaboration between former students and the institution.
