Surat/Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the recent assembly election results in Bihar have clearly shown that the people of the state no longer support caste-based politics. Speaking at a public meeting in Surat, Modi said voters rejected those who tried to divide society and instead supported development and unity. He added that the political parties that lost the elections will take months to recover from this shock.
Modi praised the talent and global presence of the people of Bihar. He said Biharis are found in every corner of the world and are respected for their hard work and intelligence. According to him, the voters of Bihar understand politics at both national and international levels and chose harmony over the “poison of communalism”.
Before addressing the gathering, Modi visited the Pandori Mata temple, which is considered a family deity by tribal communities in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. He also held a massive 4-km roadshow in Dediapada, where thousands of tribal people stood along the roadside to welcome him. During this visit, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth Rs 9,700 crore.
Modi is also scheduled to meet members of the Bihari community at Surat Airport before leaving for Delhi. Between 10,000 and 15,000 people from Bihar are expected to attend the event, where they will welcome the Prime Minister. Union Ministers C.R. Patil and Harsh Sanghvi will also be present at the airport to receive him and greet the attendees. The event will mark the final segment of Modi’s trip
