Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)’s heavy defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections has now turned into a major personal crisis inside the Lalu Prasad Yadav family. After the results, Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav and sister of Tejashwi Yadav, shocked everyone by announcing on social media that she was quitting politics. She also said she would distance herself from the family because of the internal atmosphere. This public statement made it clear that the family is facing a serious internal dispute.
Rohini mentioned two names directly — Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Nemat Khan. Both are believed to be close aides of Tejashwi Yadav and important figures in his political team. According to Rohini, decisions taken under their influence were responsible for the party’s defeat in the elections. Her statement has fuelled debates across Bihar’s political circles, with many calling the conflict inside the Yadav household a “Mahabharata”.
Amid all this, attention has turned towards Rameez Nemat Khan. Rameez was born in 1986 in Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh. He studied at DPS Mathura Road and later completed an MBA from Jamia Millia Islamia. Before joining politics, he was a professional cricketer and played 30 first-class matches for the Jharkhand team as a right-handed batsman. During his cricket days, he became close friends with Tejashwi Yadav — a friendship that opened the door for him to enter the RJD.
Rameez joined the RJD in 2016 and started by handling backstage work in the Deputy Chief Minister’s office when Tejashwi was in government. He gradually became an important part of Tejashwi’s political setup, helping to manage his routine, campaign meetings and election strategies. Today, Rameez works closely with strategist Sanjay Yadav, and both are considered key advisers to Tejashwi.
The recent feud, however, has created deep cracks in the family. Tej Pratap Yadav had earlier targeted Sanjay Yadav by calling him “Jaychand”, a label linked with betrayal in Indian history. Now with Rohini publicly blaming Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Nemat Khan for her exit, the controversy has intensified. Many believe the crisis is not just political, but deeply personal, and it remains to be seen how the RJD will handle this growing rift within its most powerful family.
