Patna: The political and personal fallout from the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) electoral loss in Bihar has reportedly left former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav increasingly isolated within his own family. Lalu Prasad’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, has declared that she enjoys the support of her parents, Lalu and Rabri Yadav, and her sisters, but has severed ties with her brother.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi on Sunday evening, Rohini said, “Go ask Tejashwi, Sanjay Yadav, Rachel Yadav, and Rameez who instigated all this. My father is with me. Yesterday, my parents were crying, and my sisters were crying for me. God blessed me with such parents; they have always supported me.”

Rohini criticised her brother and his close associates, arguing that familial sacrifices should not fall solely on daughters. “Any home with a brother should also contribute to the family. Why should only daughters make sacrifices? When your daughter is asked questions, you say, ‘Go to your in-laws’ house, you’re married,’” she said.
The tensions erupted publicly after Rohini posted on social media on Saturday announcing her departure from politics and her decision to sever family ties. She accused RJD MPs Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, close aides of Tejashwi, of influencing her decision. She also alleged mistreatment at her mother Rabri’s residence and raised questions about her kidney donation to her father.
Rohini arrived at Patna airport on Saturday evening in tears, departing from her mother’s residence. On Sunday, her three sisters—Ragini, Rajlaxmi, and Chanda Yadav—also left Patna for Delhi with their children.
The family rift follows earlier divisions: Rohini’s elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, was already estranged from the family after forming the Janshakti Janata Dal. He contested the recent elections without success and has since extended moral support to the NDA, reportedly inviting Rohini to join his party.
