Patna: In a concerted effort to reduce road accidents and promote responsible driving, the Bihar Road Safety Council, under the aegis of the Transport Department, successfully concluded a two-day specialised training programme for government vehicle drivers. The initiative saw active participation from 945 drivers across various districts and departments, equipping them with essential road safety protocols and defensive driving techniques.
Day Two Sees Over 500 Drivers Join Safety Workshop
The second day of the training witnessed more than 500 drivers engaging in sessions focused on traffic indicators, hazard recognition, and safe driving habits. The programme, held in phases, is part of a broader strategy to instil discipline and awareness among state-employed drivers.
Commissioner Vows Continued Safety Campaigns
Speaking on the occasion, State Transport Commissioner Ashutosh Dwivedi
emphasised the importance of sustained efforts:
“Understanding road safety indicators, cultivating safe driving habits, and identifying risks are crucial steps towards making drivers more aware and responsible. We will continue such phased training and awareness programmes across the state.”
Drivers Learn the Mantras of Safe Driving
Trainers covered a wide spectrum of topics including:
- Adherence to speed limits
- Mandatory use of seat belts
- Avoiding mobile usage while driving
- Safe overtaking techniques
- Recognising blind spots
- Giving priority to pedestrians
- Maintaining safe vehicle distance
Real-life case studies and video demonstrations were used to illustrate accident causes and prevention strategies, making the sessions both engaging and impactful.
Pamphlets Distributed to Reinforce Learning
To reinforce the training, the Bihar Road Safety Council distributed customised pamphlets detailing:
- Traffic rules and indicators
- Risks of speeding
- Emergency precautions
- Importance of helmets and seat belts
These materials, written in accessible language, will be disseminated widely to reach all government drivers in the state.
