Patna: Winter conditions are strengthening across Bihar as minimum temperatures continue to fall and dense fog blankets several districts. Early morning fog was reported from Patna, Khagaria, Gopalganj, Saran, Begusarai, and neighbouring areas, reducing visibility and forcing commuters to drive with headlights on.
According to meteorologists, the minimum temperature is expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next two to three days. The cold wave is likely to intensify further after November 27–28, with a sharper dip forecast in North Bihar and hilly regions.

Fog Disrupts Morning Routine Across Districts
Foggy conditions remained prominent in Nalanda, where dew accumulated on crops overnight. Light fog was also observed early in the morning. In Gopalganj and Khagaria, visibility dropped significantly around 5 a.m., compelling motorists to keep their headlights on. Lakhisarai too reported dense fog during early morning hours.
Patna to See Temperature Dip of 2–3°C
In the state capital, morning and night temperatures are steadily declining, though daytime sunshine has kept conditions moderate. Meteorologists predict a further 2 to 3-degree drop in Patna’s minimum temperature in the coming days. Light fog may persist during the morning and evening. As the cold intensifies, pollution levels are also rising due to stagnant air.

Air Quality Deteriorates; Patna Among Most Polluted
Air quality in at least three cities, including Patna, remained in the ‘poor’ category over the last 24 hours. Experts warn that pollutant particles remain trapped in the lower atmosphere during winter, leading to degraded air quality. Residents have been advised to wear masks while outdoors, especially during morning and evening hours, and to take extra precautions for children and the elderly.
