Sitamarhi: Authorities in Sitamarhi district have issued notices to 367 teachers accused of arriving late and leaving schools before official hours, according to education department officials.
The Block Education Officer (BEO) has summoned the teachers and given them 24 hours to provide a written explanation. Failure to offer a satisfactory response may result in disciplinary action, officials warned. The group includes 170 teachers from Dumra block, 47 from Belsand block, and 150 teachers and headteachers from Bathnaha block.
The BEO said the action followed instructions from the District Programme Officer (DPO) to review attendance records on the e-Shikshakosh portal. Attendance data from November 19 and 20 reportedly showed widespread instances of late sign-ins and early sign-outs.
DPO Manish Kumar Singh said the monitoring drive would continue and stressed the need for strict adherence to school timings. “Teachers must be present on time and leave only after the scheduled hour,” he said, adding that negligence would not be tolerated.
“Strict action will be taken against those who fail to justify their conduct,” Singh said.
