Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited his ancestral village of Kalyan Bigha on Saturday, paying tribute to his late father, freedom fighter Kaviraj Ram Lakhan Singh, on his death anniversary. This marked the first time Kumar had returned to his native village since assuming office for a record 10th term as Chief Minister.
CM garlanded a statue of his father at the Kaviraj Ram Lakhan Singh Smriti Vatika, offering floral tributes. He also paid respects to statues of his late mother, Parmeshwari Devi, and his late wife, Manju Sinha. The ceremony was attended by his elder brother Satish Kumar, other family members, and close relatives, all honouring the legacy of the family’s contributions to the independence movement.

Several political figures and officials joined the homage, including Member of Parliament Kaushlendra Kumar, MLAs Krishna Murari Sharan, Jitendra Kumar, Kaushal Kishore, and Ruhel Ranjan, along with Legislative Councillors Sanjay Kumar Singh and Lallan Sarraf. JD(U) National General Secretary Manish Kumar Verma, former MLA E. Sunil Kumar, Chief Minister’s secretaries Kumar Ravi and Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, as well as senior police and district officials, also attended.

Following the tribute, CM Nitish visited the Bhagwati Temple in his native village, offered prayers, and fed fish in the pond near his ancestral home. Residents of Kalyan Bigha and surrounding areas welcomed the Chief Minister warmly, seizing the opportunity to meet him. During the visit, Kumar engaged with local residents, listening to their concerns and instructing officials to address issues affecting the community.
