Patna: In a major push for transparency and exam integrity, the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) will soon deploy artificial intelligence (AI) to identify fake certificates and repeated exam attempts by students using altered personal details. The system is expected to be fully functional before the 2026 Matriculation and Intermediate examinations.
BSEB Chairman Anand Kishore said the Board will integrate AI across all examination stages — from form submission to administration and result processing. The technology will track discrepancies by comparing a candidate’s name, father’s name, date of birth, address, photograph, signature, and Aadhaar details.
Kishore said the new system will not only target fresh cases but also scan old records. “Preparations are complete to use AI in the Bihar Board. This will detect all fake certificates, old or new. Even minor mistakes will be identified. Fake certificates dating back to 1985–86 will be traced and cancelled immediately,” he said.
If any individual is found employed on the basis of a fraudulent certificate verified by the Board, their appointment may also be terminated.
Crackdown Expected to Reveal More Fraud
In recent years, fake certificates have surfaced during verification, data entry, and legal proceedings. Officials believe the number is likely much higher since many discrepancies remain undetected.
The Board admits it does not maintain official data on such cases, but expects fraud detection to rise significantly once AI begins scanning the records of over 1.5 million matriculation and 1.3 million intermediate students each year.
Certificates obtained on the basis of disqualified documents will also become invalid, ensuring strict accountability.
However, contractual employees are unlikely to face major consequences since their certificates are typically not verified during hiring.
BPSC to Conduct Special Teachers’ Exam on January 29
Meanwhile, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced that it will hold a written examination on January 29 for the recruitment of 7,279 special teachers.
Of these positions:
• 5,334 posts are for teachers of Classes 1–5, with examinations in language and general studies

The move is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to bolster the education system with qualified teaching staff.
