Patna: Bihar’s Vigilance Investigation Bureau has stepped up its fight against corruption, arresting 95 public servants and registering nearly 100 FIRs between January and December 6. The Bureau’s intensified measures have sent shockwaves through state government departments.
In addition to arrests, the Vigilance Bureau recovered more than Rs 3.5 million from corrupt officials and seized immovable properties, bank accounts, lockers, and significant quantities of gold and silver jewelry. Land purchase documents have also been recovered as part of investigations into alleged disproportionate assets.
Teams have been particularly active in key departments, including Revenue and Land Reforms, Education, Panchayati Raj, and Agricultural Supply, conducting targeted trap operations against alleged corruption networks.
“Every complaint is now being registered and investigated promptly,” said a senior Bureau source. Officials are being monitored not only for accepting bribes but also for accumulating assets that cannot be explained by their official income.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Vigilance Bureau plans to establish dedicated units for cyber monitoring and online complaint tracking. Officials have been instructed to launch immediate trap operations in response to any reports of negligence or illegal transactions.
The Bureau’s firm stance signals a new era in Bihar’s anti-corruption efforts, indicating that officials at all levels may face scrutiny, and no act of corruption will go unchecked.
