Patna: The 359th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj was marked with a vibrant morning procession at Takht Sri Harmandir Gurdwara, Patna Sahib, on Thursday. Organised by the Gurdwara Management Committee, the event commemorates not only the tenth Sikh Guru but also the martyrdom of his four sons, the Sahibzadas.
The procession began at the Patna Sahib Gurdwara and wound its way along Ashok Rajpath to the nearby railway station before returning to the gurdwara. Devotees of all ages—women, children, and the elderly—joined the march, chanting “Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal” and singing hymns in praise of the Guru.

Ragi Jathas, groups of traditional Sikh singers, performed hymns reflecting Guru Gobind Singh’s life, his sacrifices, and the tragic martyrdom of his sons. Young children took part in the procession, carrying saffron and Sikh flags, adding to the visual and spiritual fervour.
Along the route, refreshments and prasad—consecrated food—were distributed by the gurdwara committee, with tea, biscuits, and sherbet offered to participants and passersby alike. Committee members oversaw the event, ensuring its smooth conduct and safety.

Speaking on the occasion, the Gurdwara Management Committee emphasised that the procession aims to propagate the Guru’s teachings of courage, sacrifice, and humanity. They highlighted the importance of remembering the Sahibzadas, whose martyrdom continues to inspire generations to uphold truth and righteousness.
The event concluded with prayers seeking peace, harmony, and brotherhood, with devotees describing the celebration as deeply inspiring and advocating for such programmes to be organised regularly.
