Patna: Indian Railways is facing renewed concerns over attacks on its high-speed Vande Bharat Express trains after another stone-pelting incident in Bihar. On Saturday, the train was targeted between Samastipur and Dubaha stations, resulting in a shattered window pane in a chair car. Fortunately, the passenger seated there was unharmed.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has launched an investigation, forming a dedicated team to probe the incident. This follows a similar attack just three days ago on the Gorakhpur-Patliputra Vande Bharat Express in the Kanti area, where three coaches were damaged. In that case, three minors were arrested after they reportedly pelted stones at the train to film a social media video.
The latest incident occurred while the Jogbani-Danapur Vande Bharat Express was travelling from Samastipur to Muzaffarpur, departing at 9:28 AM and reaching its destination at 10:13 AM. The window pane damaged near Dubaha was subsequently repaired at Danapur station.
Chhatrasal Singh, General Manager of East Central Railway, along with Samastipur Divisional Railway Manager Jyoti Prakash Mishra, visited the area following the attack. The RPF in Narayanpur and Samastipur is investigating both incidents, reinforcing security concerns around high-speed trains in the region.
Rail authorities have urged the public to refrain from damaging national property, warning that repeated attacks endanger passengers and disrupt services. Stone-pelting incidents targeting Vande Bharat and other special trains have been reported across Bihar and other states, with arrests following each episode, but authorities say the attacks continue despite enforcement efforts.
