Patna: A newly-married agriculture department officer who went missing from Patna has been found safe in Siwan after 36 hours, police said, following a search operation guided by call-data tracking and shifting phone locations.
Aryama Dipti, posted as a Block Technology Manager in Bihar’s agriculture department, was last seen on Friday after her husband said he dropped her off on the way to work. However, office records indicate she never arrived, and her phone went unreachable shortly after 4 pm – the time she was last in contact with her family. Her disappearance came less than a month after her marriage.
Dipti, who recently returned to duty following a honeymoon in Nepal, was traced after police analysed her call detail records (CDR). Officers said her final known communication was with a man whose number placed him near her last recorded locations. The call is now central to the ongoing investigation.
Her phone signal first pinged in Usmanpur in the Athmalgola area on Friday evening, later reappearing near Fatuha on Saturday morning. Police believe either Dipti or her device travelled along this route, suggesting planned movement rather than an abduction – a theory her family have also dismissed.

Her husband, Shubham – a chartered accountant based in Patna – told officers there had been no argument on the morning she went missing. “She seemed normal, quiet. Nothing unusual,” he said, adding that she had told him she was home due to office work when they spoke at 2 pm.
Dipti’s family insist there were no immediate signs of distress in her life following the wedding or the couple’s return from Nepal. “There was no change in her behaviour,” her relatives said.
Investigators are exploring multiple angles, including whether she met someone voluntarily or was assisted by a known acquaintance. Police sources have confirmed they are examining past contacts from her time studying at Bihar Agriculture University, Bhagalpur, where Dipti reportedly knew the man linked to the last phone call.
Dipti was located in Siwan and brought to the Bakhriarpur police station for questioning. Officers have not yet confirmed if a crime has occurred, stating the priority is to establish the circumstances of her disappearance.
The case has sparked questions over workplace security, communication gaps, and personal safety for women professionals in semi-urban postings across the state.
