Patna: A 23-day-married agricultural officer posted in Patna district has gone missing, with police investigating claims of marital discord, personal relationships, and abduction, according to officials.
Aryama Deepti, a Block Technology Manager with the Bihar agriculture department, has been untraceable since the afternoon of December 26. The 26-year-old, originally from Hanuman Nagar in Patna, was living in rented accommodation near Bakhtiyarpur Junction due to her work posting in Athmalgola block.
Her brother, Dr Larkeshwar Narayan, said the last confirmed contact with her was at around 4 pm on Friday. “We spoke earlier that day, but by evening her phone was switched off. There has been no trace since,” he said. A missing person report has been filed at the Bakhtiyarpur police station.
Her husband, Shubham, a chartered accountant based in Patna, told reporters that he spoke to her just two hours before she disappeared. “She said she had come home for office work,” he said. “I was busy with work. No one has heard from her since.”
Police say they are investigating three primary lines of inquiry: whether domestic tensions led her to leave voluntarily, if a prior relationship or personal matter influenced her actions, or whether she may have been abducted. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage, checking call records, and questioning neighbours.
“We are exploring every angle, including possible disputes, financial pressure, or coercion,” said Dev Anand Sharma, the station in charge. “No hypothesis can be confirmed at this stage.”
Deepti’s disappearance has caused concern in the local community, with relatives expressing frustration and appealing for urgent intervention. “It has been over a day. We just want her to come home safely,” her brother said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
