Patna: On the last day of 2025, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and his entire cabinet made public disclosures of their personal assets, in keeping with annual transparency norms followed by the state government.
According to the declaration, deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary reported holding Rs 1.35 lakh in cash, while his wife declared Rs 35,000 in hand. The statement also lists multiple bank deposits held by the deputy chief minister, including Rs 15,35,789 in an account with the State Bank of India and Rs 2,09,688 with HDFC Bank.
Choudhary’s disclosures include investments in bonds and shares, as well as additional savings accounts held in the names of his wife and children. The declaration notes that details of these accounts were submitted as part of the consolidated statement filed with the government.
Among movable assets, the deputy chief minister owns a 2023-model Bolero Neo vehicle valued at around Rs 7 lakh. He has declared ownership of 200 grams of gold, estimated to be worth Rs 20 lakh, while his wife holds an equivalent quantity of gold of similar value.
The statement also lists firearms among his possessions, including an NP Bore rifle valued at Rs 4 lakh and a revolver valued at Rs 2 lakh, which has been recorded as a gift from his father.
In terms of immovable assets, a flat located on Gola Road in Patna, valued at approximately Rs 29 lakh, has been declared in the name of his wife.
