Patna: Deepak Prakash, who attracted attention after being inducted into the Bihar cabinet without being a member of the legislature, has disclosed assets showing a sharp contrast between modest cash holdings and sizeable financial and property investments.
According to the declaration, Prakash holds Rs 10,000 in cash but maintains six bank accounts with combined deposits of about Rs 56.8 lakh. His wife, Sakshi Mishra, has declared Rs 10,000 in cash and Rs 2.58 lakh spread across two bank accounts.
The couple also owns 515 grams of gold jewellery, valued at approximately Rs 71.8 lakh, according to the statement. Prakash’s movable assets include a Ford Freestyle car and a Bajaj motorcycle.
In terms of immovable property, the minister has declared ownership of two residential plots, each measuring about 15 decimals. He also owns a two-storey commercial complex with a basement in Jandaha, in Vaishali district, with its assessed value listed at Rs 1 crore.
The disclosure provides a detailed picture of Prakash’s financial position at the end of the year, highlighting significant investments in gold, real estate and bank deposits despite limited cash in hand. Asset declarations by ministers are released annually in Bihar as part of transparency norms aimed at enabling public scrutiny of the financial interests of members of the state executive.
