Gayaji: Fear has gripped the city of Gayaji after criminals demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore from Dr Satyendra Kumar, a senior doctor at Magadh Medical College and Hospital. The criminals threatened to kill him if he did not pay the money, causing worry and anxiety for the doctor and his family. The incident has shocked the local community and highlighted concerns about the increasing boldness of criminals in Bihar.
Dr Kumar said the threats began on 27 December when he received a call from an unknown number. When he returned the call, the person demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore and warned of serious consequences if he did not pay. Three days later, on 30 December, Dr Kumar received another threatening call from the same number. Disturbed by the continuous threats, he immediately filed a written complaint at the Magadh Medical Police Station.
Police have registered an FIR and started investigating the case. Early findings show that the first call came from Asansol in West Bengal, while the second call was traced to Maharashtra. These details suggest that an organised criminal gang may be involved in the case. Police are now using technical tools and other methods to trace and catch the criminals.
Dr Kumar lives with his family in Magadh Colony in Gayaji. Following the incident, concerns about the family’s safety have grown. The SHO of Magadh Medical Police Station, Krishna Kumar, confirmed that the police are taking the matter seriously and investigating all angles. He said that the criminals will be identified and arrested soon. The incident has left residents concerned about safety and the rise of organised crime in the city.
