Patna: The Bihar government has announced the launch of a new portal aimed at providing employment opportunities to one crore young people in the state over the next five years. The initiative will be overseen by the newly formed Department of Youth, Employment and Skill Development.
The department, which will also organise district-level job fairs and coordinate with private companies and industries, is intended to streamline job-seeking processes and address employment-related concerns among the state’s youth.
To support its operations, the government has sanctioned 147 new posts within the department. Officials say these positions will help implement employment schemes, formulate regulations, and expand facilities to assist job seekers. The cabinet has already approved the proposal.
A key feature of the department will be the e-portal, which will allow young people to search for jobs based on their education and qualifications and submit applications online, eliminating the need to visit multiple government offices.
The department will also maintain ongoing engagement with private firms, industrial units, and MSMEs to maximise employment opportunities. Job fairs organised across districts will enable direct interaction between youth and potential employers, including both private and government organisations.
State officials expressed optimism that the initiative would simplify access to employment for Bihar’s youth and help them become self-reliant.
