Patna: Bihar’s state legislature will begin its budget session on February 2, with the 2026-27 annual budget set to be presented on February 3, officials have confirmed. The session, scheduled to run until February 27, will include 19 sittings.
The Department of Parliamentary Affairs issued a formal schedule outlining key proceedings. On the opening day, the Governor will address both houses jointly, and new members will take their oaths. The state’s economic survey, detailing growth, revenue, and expenditure, will also be presented.
Following the Governor’s address, the debate on the motion of thanks will begin. There will be no sitting on February 4, while February 5 will see the government respond to suggestions and questions arising from the address.
A general discussion on income and expenditure for 2026-27 is scheduled for February 6, with no sessions on February 7 and 8. On February 9, the assembly will debate the budget and hear the government’s response, alongside the presentation of the third supplementary budget for 2025-26.
Debates and voting on the demands for grants will take place from February 10 onwards, with discussions on the supplementary budget on February 11. Sessions on February 12 and 13 will continue the grant discussions, followed by a break on February 14 and 15.
From February 16 to 20, the assembly will continue discussions and voting on the demands for grants. There will be no sessions on February 21 and 22. The Appropriation Bill will be debated on February 23, with further government business, including bills and official matters, scheduled from February 24 to 26. The session will conclude on February 27 with private members’ business and resolutions.
