Patna: Bihar’s Commercial Taxes Department held a high-level review meeting on Thursday, focusing on revenue growth, taxpayer convenience, and the use of technology to curb tax evasion.
The meeting was chaired by Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the department, and brought together all Divisional Additional Commissioners (Administration) and Circle Officers across the state. It was conducted in two phases: a morning session via video conferencing with divisional offices, followed by an in-person afternoon session at Kar Bhawan, Patna, attended by circle officers based in the city.
During the session, Singh outlined several directives aimed at strengthening the department’s performance. Circle Officers were instructed to accelerate revenue collection and expedite recovery of outstanding taxes. The Commissioner-cum-Secretary also highlighted the importance of transparent operations and prompt resolution of taxpayer issues to facilitate ease of doing business.
The meeting also focused on leveraging technology to prevent tax evasion, with strategies coordinated by the IT Branch and the Central Investigation Bureau. Divisional Additional Commissioners were urged to regularly review progress reports and provide guidance to officers at the operational level.
Senior officials from the department’s headquarters, including the State Tax Special Commissioner (Tax Branch), State Tax Additional Commissioner (IT Branch), and State Tax Additional Commissioner (Central Investigation Bureau), were present at the meeting.
