Patna: Four young men were killed in a road accident in Bihar’s Madhepura district on Saturday when their car collided head-on with a speeding Hyva truck, police said.
The crash took place near the electricity office in the Sadar police station area. The impact was so severe that the car was completely crushed, trapping all four occupants inside. Local residents alerted the police and ambulance services, and the victims were pulled from the wreckage with the help of bystanders.
They were rushed to Sadar Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared them dead. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Police identified the deceased as Sonu, a resident of Gulzarbagh; Sahil, from Ward 13 of the Sadar police station area; Sajan, from Udakishunganj; and Rupesh, also from the Sadar police station area.
According to the police, the truck involved in the collision has been seized, and a search is under way for its driver, who fled the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding and reckless driving may have caused the accident.
Local media reported that the group had been returning from a hospital after visiting Sonu’s wife and newborn son, who was born a day earlier. The incident has sparked renewed concern over road safety and heavy vehicle regulation in the region.
